Officials from the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland and University of Maryland Shore Regional Health raised a “Donate Life” flag on the front circle of UM Shore Medical Center at Easton to recognize Donate Life Month on Wednesday, April 4.
“Flags Across America” is part of a national initiative in which the LLF partners with Maryland hospitals to fly the Donate Life Flags wave throughout the month of April to raise awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation and to honor donors and their families.
“We are proud to raise this flag throughout the year for every donor, in honor of their gift and their family,” says Chris Wright, in-house Eastern Shore coordinator for the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland. “Without the hard work of all staff, the giving nature of our donor families and the selfless act of our donors, this would not be possible.”
In 2017, UM Shore Medical Center in Chestertown had two tissue donors; UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester had two organ donors and two tissue donors; and UM Shore Medical Center at Easton had one organ donor and 11 tissue donors.
