University of Maryland Shore Regional Health recently celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals Week from April 24 through April 30.
This celebratory week is an annual recognition of the greater than 300,000 medical laboratory professionals and pathologists across the country that are essential to the success of the health care industry. Another purpose of this celebratory week is to inform and educate members of the local community and other medical professionals about medical laboratory services and the impact that having such dedicated and knowledgeable professionals has on providing quality patient care, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Because laboratory professionals typically work behind the scenes of any health care setting, the crucial testing that they perform each day often goes unnoticed; however, they play a vital role in the diagnosis and prevention of disease.
In addition to the full-service laboratories at University of Maryland Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester and Easton and University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown, UM Shore Regional Health also provides outpatient laboratory services at 15 Sunburst Center in Cambridge; 838 S. 5th Avenue in Denton; the Diagnostic and Imaging Center at 10 Martin Court in Easton; the Roundtop Professional Building at 6602 Church Hill Road, Suite 450 in Chestertown; 119-C Main Street in Galena; and University of Maryland Shore Medical Pavilion at Queenstown at 125 Shoreway Drive.
Shore Regional Health laboratory staff members work diligently to meet the needs of the community by offering early morning and weekend hours at various locations.
