Congratulations to December’s DAISY nurse – Morgan Maynard, BSN, RN, FLOAT/JET Nurse, who was nominated by her co-worker, Alessandra-Anna Monaghan, RN, for going above and beyond for a patient and his family when the patient, Luigi Micheli, found himself hospitalized during his daughter’s wedding.
“Morgan went above and beyond,” wrote Monaghan, the patient’s daughter. “She helped get my dad ready in his suit that he was supposed to wear to the wedding and helped set up the iPad to make sure my dad was able to watch the ceremony via FaceTime. I also told Morgan we were coming to take pictures after the wedding with my dad in his suit. She decorated the room and had sparkling cider set up. She made this day so special and is an incredible nurse. Even though my wedding day didn’t look like I always thought it would in regard to my dad, I will always remember this special moment with my dad thanks to Morgan. She will always hold a special place in my heart.”
As part of winning the DAISY award, Maynard will be internationally recognized on the DAISY website. She also received a certificate, a DAISY pin, and a “Healer’s Touch” Statue. As tradition holds, she and her team were also treated to cinnamon rolls.
