Gene Newmier, DO, Joins UM SRH Board

Dr. Gene Newmier

Gene Newmier, DO, a family medicine physician practicing in Cambridge, has joined the UM Shore Regional Health Board of Trustees.

Dr. Newmier has been active on several committees for Shore Regional Health, including a two-year term as chief of staff at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester. He has served on the Board of the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians in many capacities, including chapter president, 2010-2012. Currently, he serves as Delegate to the American Academy of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates.

Dr. Newmier received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his residency in Cleveland, OH, he moved to the Eastern Shore and began seeing patients in Cambridge. In 2001, Dr. Newmier founded Rose Hill Family Physicians and has practiced personal family medicine since then; his special interests include preventive health, diabetes management and cholesterol management.

Believing that physicians have an obligation to teach those who come after us, Dr. Newmier has served as a volunteer faculty preceptor for the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine.

Dr. Newmier lives in Trappe with his wife and two sons. He has been active in the community, serving as a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 190, a YMCA Level II swim official, a member of the Knights of Columbus Regina Coeli Chapter, and a member of Sts Peter & Paul Church .
