The following reports from patients and family members reaffirm our staff’s commitment
to putting our patients’ needs first. Please take a minute to say THANKS!

I received the best care yesterday. Thank you to the wonderful ER and Endo nurses, Sandra, Laird, and …??? in anesthesia (I forgot her name but she was so kind) and Dr. Moran.

When my Mother entered UM Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Chestertown 4 ½ years ago at the age of 99, no one knew she would stay until she was 103 yrs. and 5 mos. I think that her length of stay was largely due to the excellent care she received at your facility.
I cannot mention individually all the employees who made my Mother’s stay an absolute delight to her (and myself). But a few I will mention were your ambassadors from the beginning.
Sue Cummings adopted me from day one and was always supportive of any quest I was on. Dorthra Graves and Mother became joined from the first day, and that was a challenge as Mother never wanted help and gave her friendship only to those who earned it. Barbara Tomilson was very attentive to her needs and often would take time from her busy day to make Mother smile by some individual attention. Mother always enjoyed Wayne Demby, he would tease her by asking if she would help with the cleaning and making her laugh. She would say to me, when seeing him approach “here comes trouble” and laugh. Bill would shine the floor so shiny that she would tell him it was “still wet and he needed to wipe the water up.”
I was supported on a regular basis by Donna Walters. She would answer, frankly, all my questions and explain procedures the Manor needed to follow to meet State requirements. Donna was always quick to get back to me with any concerns I may have had about my Mother. Stephanie regularly stopped, chatted and watched her eating and drinking. As I said, I could go through the entire building naming names as all have touched our lives during her stay.
I was especially touched during her last day. Many of the employees came to her room, gave me a hug and went to her bedside to talk to her, even though she could not respond. Many hugged, touched her and said their goodbyes. Much like a mini-viewing with her still here, it showed the unconditional love she was given at your facility. … I will always cherish her time at with you and the care and love that she received. It was, indeed, a gift to me from your employees. Wishing you and your employees a happy and bright future!

Just a note to thank UM Chester River Home Care for sending Brooke, Sarah, and Emily to me.  They were a great support system for me and helped me in my recovery from total knee replacement surgery.

The staff here at the Orthopedic Unit, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton have been nothing less than fantastic. Just as my last time here, everyone from the cafeteria staff to the nurses and of course my doc, Richard Mason, have been spectacular. It’s been quite a journey, now onto home PT and back as good as new. Who knows what the future will bring but I do know I will be walking a little taller and without any pain! Thanks to all for your caring, kind comments.

Upon my discharge from UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, 3 East on May 15, I knew that I had to let someone know about one aspect of my visit, and that is Rachel who was the night nurse the three nights I was in the hospital. She was exceptionally thorough, kind, caring, and positive. At a time when I was extremely low in spirits, by her presence and actions she kept me balanced. An example of her thoroughness is that she was the only nurse who when checking heart, lungs and incisions also checked pulse points in my wrists, ankles and legs. She carried out her duties very professionally, explained what she was doing and why, answered any questions I had and treated me with kindness, not pity. All while she had a pretty heavy load of patients.
I tried to thank her on Monday morning as she went off duty, but her care and my rather unstable emotions resulted in my being a blubbering fool.
Rachel was the person I saw most and thus has been singled out but she really is golden. Others who were notable in their administrations were Debbie (nurse in pre-Op), Wendy (day nurse on the 12th), Gwen (day tech on the 12th), Barbie (tech day and night on the 14th) and Shauna (day tech on the 15th).

Exceptional care, thank you to all the “same day surgery crew” in Easton — you guys are all awesome!
