Jo Anne Thomson, MN, RN-BC, has been named regional director, patient experience and practice innovation.

Joanne Thomson, MN, RN-BC, former director of nursing informatics and practice innovation, was named regional director, patient experience and practice innovation in December, 2015. This new leadership position was created to centralize primary oversight of the patient experience throughout University of Maryland Shore Regional Health hospitals and outpatient facilities by fostering and promoting a culture of compassionate patient and family centered care and service excellence.
“I will be working with staff at all levels throughout UM Shore Regional Health’s diverse locations to develop strategic initiatives for patient experience and satisfaction,” Thomson explains.  “The first step is to develop a centralized database into which patient satisfaction survey results, iround information, handwritten notes and cards and comments from patients shared by staff can be recorded and organized. I look forward to sharing patient feedback with our staff and also with the public — we want people in the community to know that we are listening to their suggestions and concerns and also that we are acting on them by making improvements where needed.”
Future issues of Compass will provide ongoing coverage of the new Patient Experience initiative.
