UM Shore Home Care and UM Chester River Home Care have announced the addition of a full-time speech therapist to the roster of home-based care staff. Erin Scheele, MA CCC-SLP, who has worked within the UM Shore Regional Health community for the past six years.
Scheele has 15 years’ experience evaluating and treating patients with a wide variety of functional impairments, including difficulties understanding and using language; chewing and swallowing difficulties; voice disorders and cognitive challenges, such as new or worsening difficulties with memory, attention, organizational thinking skills, following directions and/or completing home-based tasks including money and medication management.
According to Rita Holley, regional director, Home Based Care, Scheele has helped patients and families with a broad range of diagnoses, including progressive neurological diseases, cancers, stroke, traumatic brain injury and more. “Erin enjoys working with patients and families to help facilitate increased independence and quality of life in their home setting,” says Holley. “We are delighted to have her on our team.”
