Richard Barker, CPA, a former corporate executive who lives in Chestertown with his wife, Ginny, has joined the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation as assistant treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee.
Barker’s long and successful career in corporate management, consulting and turnaround included the titles of CFO and CEO for both domestic and international companies. Barker also has been very active in nonprofit management throughout his career. A full-time resident of Chestertown since 2003, he has served as treasurer for the boards of the Kent County Humane Society, the United Way of Kent County and Garfield Center for the Arts; and as a member of the finance committee for the boards of the Mid Shore Community Foundation and For All Seasons, Inc.
Barker maintains that access to outstanding health care services is key to the quality of life in his adopted home of Kent County and looks forward to contributing to the advancement of Chester River Health Foundation. “I believe my business experience and background will be helpful to the Foundation in achieving its mission,” he says.
