Congratulations to April’s DAISY nurse – Pamela Callahan Farhman, RN, who works in the Birthing Center! Farhman was nominated by one of her patients for the exceptional care she received. The nomination read:
“I haven’t had many stays or time spent in the hospital but what little time I have, I have never had a nurse or met a person like Pam. It clearly shows Pam loves what she does and made my whole birth ‘experience a good one. Birth can be a scary, stressful, not very easy time but she made it far from that. Pam was very professional but also very comforting. She was attentive to me and my husband. She was with me every step of the way, encouraging me, comforting me, and not letting me give up. If I get the chance to do this again, I hope I get Pam. She made me feel like I was the only patient there. Even after the baby was born and she was unfortunately no longer my nurse, she came in to say hello, see the baby and check on me. She came in to say goodbye when it was our time to go home. There are few in the world like Pam, and she will forever hold a special place in my heart. Shore Regional Health is lucky to have a nurse like her. Pam is a special person and even more special nurse. I couldn’t thank her enough for the experience she gave me. I hope every mother in the Birthing Center gets a nurse just like Pam.”
As part of winning the DAISY award, Farhman will be internationally recognized on the DAISY website. She also received a certificate, a DAISY pin, and a “Healer’s Touch” Statue. As tradition holds, Farhman and her team were also treated to cinnamon rolls.
