Dorchester SCOT Offers Free Screenings, Information at Cambridge Farmer’s Market

Robert Schmollinger was among the patrons at Cambridge Downtown Farmers Market and took advantage of free, onsite BP screening provided by Amanda McDermott.

On October 10, 2024, Dorchester Shore Community Outreach Team (SCOT) members Courtney Thomas, CHA, Mandi McDermott, CHA, and Rochalla Jones, RN, Nurse Coordinator, joined vendors at the Cambridge, Maryland Farmers Market on the Choptank River.

“This was Dorchester SCOT’s first community event.” said Jones. “We enjoyed connecting with the patrons and vendors as we provided information about the programs and services we offer to the community. We also provided free blood pressure screenings and 10 community members took advantage of the screenings. Our participation was well received by the community and we look forward to returning next year.”

Services provided by Dorchester SCOT include home safety inspections, assisting with completion of advance directives, blood pressure checks, health screens, case management for those with chronic illnesses (diabetes, heart failure, etc.), and wellness activities. Team members also arrange telehealth consults, offer social visits, provide connection to community resources, and participate in health awareness events.
