UMMS Sponsors Greater Maryland Heart Walk

Dear UMMS Colleagues:

The University of Maryland Medical System is proud to again lend support to the American Heart Association by continued participation in the Greater Maryland Heart & Stroke Walk.

Save the date for this year’s walk on Saturday, October 26 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, MD.  Last year, our UMMS team members and their families came together to celebrate their own heart health while raising awareness for cardiovascular disease and stroke. Raising more than $100,000 towards critical, lifesaving research that speeds up the timeline for the next lifesaving discovery. And it’s all thanks to you.

New for this year, the American Heart Association will be launching a Hospital Cup Challenge, recognizing the regional hospital system with the most impact on their mission, including reaching fundraising and registration goals, as well as other mission components, such as sharing education with your network on the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. The winning hospital system will be announced on stage at the Heart Walk on October 26th. Together, with all UMMS entities participating, I believe we can have the greatest impact throughout Greater Maryland.

Will you consider joining us in supporting the 120 million American’s affected by cardiovascular disease? We are hoping to again represent UMMS while making a tangible impact on the health of our communities. Whether leading your own team and fundraising yourself or making a meaningful donation – you are being a heart hero. Register or donate now at the University of Maryland Medical System Heart Walk page! Any person who registers by Friday, 9/20 will receive a FREE UMMS signature yellow t-shirt to wear on Heart Walk Day.

If you’re interested in learning more about this campaign and how you can support, be sure to watch the 2024 Virtual Coach Kickoff to learn the tips and tricks that will make you successful as a coach and fundraiser.

Thank you for being Heart Heroes and for taking lifesaving into your own hands! We look forward to celebrating our incredible efforts the Heart Walk on October 26th!
