Throughout Patient Safety Awareness Week, we reflected on the progress we have made in reducing harm and to recommit to our continuing journey to zero harm. As part of our activities this year, we invited all team members to join us for two special webinars celebrating the importance of this week. See below for detail and visit the links to watch recordings of each session.
- Webinar #1: “Unleash the Power of Healthcare Teams: Better Leadership for More Impact”, Melissa Lin: Attendees joined Dr. Andrew Pollak, SVP & Chief Clinical Officer of UMMS, and Melissa Lin to see how in this new era of healthcare post-COVID, healthcare leaders must juggle multiple levers to ensure the safety, quality, and excellence of patient care that our community members deserve. - Webinar #2: “HRO – Putting Our Safety Culture to Work”, Craig Clapper, PE: Attendees joined Dr. Mohan Suntha, President & CEO of UMMS, and Craig Clapper to examine the why of patient safety – harm occurs too frequently and in large numbers. Then we provided solutions that we can use tomorrow with the potential to reduce loss events by 80% every macro-improvement cycle. And, to finish Craig showed us how current healthcare work streams (diversity, inclusion, psychological safety, just culture, engagement, and others) all work together for better safety culture resulting in better safety outcomes.
