"IWIK" — MidShore Opioid Abuse Prevention Launches Textline

It’s a hotline — but for texts, not phone calls: Text “IWIK” to 71441.
A pilot project of the MidShore Opioid Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) and funded by BHA, the textline offers an anonymous way for MidShore residents to get information about treatment 24-hours a day, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The textline operates in Dorchester, Talbot, Caroline, Queen Anne’s, and Kent counties.  Anyone can text “IWIK” (for I Wish I Knew) to 71441 and within minutes will connect with a call center operator.  Texters can ask questions and get information anonymously or choose to provide contact information to have a local treatment professional follow-up for further help.  The purpose is to reduce barriers to treatment and help people understand the treatment process.
Please spread the word about this new, what we hope to be life-saving resource!  I have attached our flyer in PDF and JPG formats that can be printed, emailed, posted on social media, etc.  Click HERE to watch our WMDT news coverage and learn more.  You may also contact Erin Hill, MidShore OMPP Coordinator at erin.hill@maryland.gov or 410-901-8134.  Erin will be on WBOC tonight if you’d like to tune in, as well!
