UMMS encourages everyone to vote in the November 5 election, and we’re making it as simple as possible for our team members. We recommend you register to vote as soon as possible, and explore all the voting options and choose the one that works best for you. Remember, team members may coordinate with their supervisors to take up to two hours of leave to vote on election day.
All of the information below was taken from the Maryland State Board of Elections website. Please refer to this site for further information about voting information not answered here.

If you need to register to vote, you have a few options both prior to and on the day of the election:
- Register in Advance of the Election by October 15 online usingMaryland’s Online Voter Registration System (OLVR). You can also complete a voter registration application in person at your local Board of Elections, the state Board of Elections, your local Department of Health office, or the Maryland Department of Human Services local offices. See the full list of locations where you can register to vote here (click on “The Registration Process”).
- Register during early voting at an early voting center in the county where you live from Thursday, October 24 through Thursday, October 31, or go to an election day voting center in the county where you live and bring a document that proves where you live. To prove where you live, bring your MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill or other government document with your name and new address.
If you are registered to vote and want to vote by mail, your request for a ballot must be received (not just mailed) by October 20:
You can request a ballot:
- Online if you have a Maryland’s driver’s license or MVA-issued ID card.
- By mailing in the ballot application for 2024 elections (PDF).
- Going to your local board of elections and fill out and turn in the form.
