Dr. Mark Lachs is a physician, scientist, and gerontologist at Weill Cornell
Medical College in New York City. His research has been published in
the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American
Medical Association, and he has appeared on The Today Show, Good
Morning America, NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition, and
in many other national and local media outlets including the Wall Street
Journal. His numerous honors and awards include a National Institute on
Aging Academic Leadership Award and a Paul Beeson Physician Faculty
Scholarship (the country’s preeminent career award on aging.)
He is a popular author in the field of aging. His book, Treat Me, Not My Age (Viking Penguin)
was named among the best consumer health books of 2010.
Dr. Lachs’ visit to Easton and Chestertown is being unwritten by the Grayce B. Kerr Fund. All
proceeds from the events will benefit Upper Shore Aging (USA), a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving
Caroline, Kent, and Talbot counties. The voice of seniors, USA helps seniors stay in familiar
surroundings with respect, independence and purpose while addressing this population’s biggest
challenges – food insecurity, loneliness, the rising cost of prescription drugs, and gaps in meeting
the cost of assisted living expenses.
