Thanks to Angela Lord, BSN, RN, NE-BC, Nurse Manager of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab for sharing this wonderful shout-out to the Cardiac Intervention Center (CIC) team:

“At Shore Medical Center in Easton, we have a very small Cath Lab team of only 11 members. This means that each person does a fair amount of on-call time per month. Recently, on Thursday, August 1, two separate STEMIs came in during on call hours only 40 minutes apart from each other. Because we use TigerConnect for our calls, Cath Lab team members who were not on-call realized that our second patient may be in jeopardy of not reaching the Cath Lab in a timely manner (due to the first patient being in treatment).

These team members began reaching out to voluntarily come in to get the 2nd room and 2nd patient ready to be treated by our invasive cardiologist. This was such a strong indicator of the team’s commitment to the community, to high reliability, sensitivity to operations, resilience — as well as to each other — that I wanted to make sure they were highlighted and would know this effort did not go unnoticed. Gratefully, both patients were seen in a timely manner and were treated according to American Heart Association guidelines.

Later, that second patient who came from Chestertown posted about how grateful he was to the entire Chestertown Emergency Department team on his personal Facebook page. This truly was a UM Shore Regional Health team effort and a testament to the efforts that our team members across the Shore put into the care they provide every day.”
