Beginning Wednesday, July 31, 2024 the enterprise-wide CISCO telephone & voice messaging system upgrade will begin to be rolled out in Chestertown and our Kent County facilities. The roll-out will begin with off-site locations and then move to the hospital building, and is expected to be complete by Friday, August 9, 2024.
While upgrades have been made at all other SRH facilities, the rollout in Chestertown will be different in that most people and departments will get NEW extension numbers and NEW direct dial phone numbers.
Check your email for a message from Trena Williamson (sent Thursday, July 18) that includes an attachment titled “Chestertown – New Cisco Extension Mapping,” which contains two tabs with crosswalks from old to new extensions for team members and departments. Please print or keep that document for reference during this transition.
Things to know:
- The two main numbers to the Chestertown Hospital facility – 410-778-3300 and 410-778-7668 WILL NOT CHANGE. However, the new extension will be needed to reach the correct person or department.
- Now that Chestertown is on the same system as the rest of Shore Regional Health facilities, team members in any of the other facilities can direct dial the Chestertown team utilizing JUST THE EXTENSION NUMBER
- A number of direct dial numbers associated with Shore Medical Group and other auxiliary services will remain the same. They are:
Cardio Rehab | 410.810.5666 |
Chestertown Main Line | 410.778.3300 |
Foundation House | 410.810.5660 |
Galena Primary Care | 410.648.5150 |
Pain Management (Callahan Line) | 410.810.5450 |

Specialty Clinic (Pulmonary Care at Ter) | 410.810.5670 |

Training will be available in Chestertown in the IT training room on the first floor of the hospital as follows:
— Monday, 7/29, from 9 AM – 12 PM and 1 PM – 4 PM
— Monday, 8/5, from 9 AM – 12 PM and 1 PM – 4 PM
— Training for the off sites will take place on the day of switchover, Wednesday, 7/31. (The team will visit each site to place the phones and, while there, they will offer training to the team.)
Training materials are also available on the intranet homepage (New CISCO Phone Training Materials (umms.org))
Team members who have new extensions and direct phone numbers are recommended to begin familiarizing your frequent contacts by sending an email notice that includes your signature with the updated information. A sample template for that communication was included in the above referenced email.
Lastly, it is recommended that departments take the initiative to look closely at information currently posted in your area, remove outdated information and replace – where needed – with updated materials.
