National Certified Nursing Assistants Week, an annual observance dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of Certified Nursing Assistants, is June 13-19! Please join us in celebrating the contributions of over 200 CNAs throughout UM Shore Regional Health.
CNAs play a crucial role in health care by providing direct patient care and support in various health care settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health agencies.
“We are grateful for the care and compassion our CNAs show to patients every day and for the vital support they give to the nursing team,” said Danielle Wilson, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Interim Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “On behalf of our patients and the entire leadership team, THANK YOU, CNAs!”
The history of nursing assistants dates to the early 20th century. During World War I, the American Red Cross established the Volunteer Nurses’ Aide Service to care for wounded soldiers. It wasn’t until 1987 that national standards were established for certified nursing assistant training and requirements.
