handicare_systemromedic_quickmove_1According to Nancy Bedell, director, Employee Health Services, there also will be a “Guess the Weight of the Linen Bag” contest, safe lifting training conducted by Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services staff at each site, and vendor demonstrations of “Quick Move” equipment (shown at left) that provides a more secure sit-to-stand procedure for both patient and caregiver, and, at the same time, contributes to safeguarding and strengthening the user’s abilities.
“The SLAM Committee has made a lot of progress in reducing employee injuries and these events offer another opportunity to learn what you need to know to prevent a problem caused by poor lifting technique,” says Bedell. “We hope managers will encourage their staff to attend and that everyone will enjoy the contest, raffle, demonstrations and oh yes, the ice cream.”
