Volunteers Needed for Read Across America Day

Read Across America Day is Friday, March 2, 2018. To celebrate Read Across America Day (also Frederick Douglass’s 200th birthday!), Shore Regional Health is partnering with Talbot County Public Schools and Talbot County Free Library to encourage and motivate children and families to read for pleasure!
This is an opportunity for 10 – 12 volunteers from Shore Regional Health to read a book to a class of elementary school age children.  If you would like to volunteer, and your schedule permits, we would love to have you!

  • What: Visit with a Talbot County elementary school class (Pre-K – 5th grade) to read a book
  • When: Friday, March 2, 2018 (during the school day)
  • Where: Talbot County Public School locations—to be matched with volunteers
  • Why: Help develop our future health care workforce by focusing on literacy and showing young children how important reading is to people in health care careers

Next Steps

  • Once we have your name, we will work with Talbot County Public Schools to match you with a class.
  • Talbot County Free Library will assist you in selecting age-appropriate books for your class.
