Breast Cancer Support
Transition to Wellness – Free workshops for breast cancer survivors and patients who are ending treatment.
Survivors Offering Support (SOS) – Free program pairing women who have breast cancer with mentors who are breast cancer survivors. If you need support or would like to become a mentor, call 410-822-1000, ext. 5866.

Childbirth & New Parent Education

Labor & Delivery Class – Saturday, 9/3, 9am-3:30pm, UM SMC at Easton, Health Education Center. Overview of maternal reproductive health; signs, symptoms and stages of labor, including pain management; techniques for a successful birth experience; cesarean delivery; and recovery after the birth. International Overdose Awareness Day Event – Wednesday, 8/31, 6-8pm, St. Mark’s Methodist Church, 100 Peach Blossom Road, Easton. Join a host of community organizations including Mariah’s Mission Fund, Talbot Partnership and Recovery for Shore at this free event designed to educate community members about the increasing incidence of drug overdose and death in our region; mental health and substance abuse disorders; and prevention, support and treatment resources available in our community. Celebrating Recovery:  A Message of Hope –Saturday, 9/21, 5pm-8pm, Christ Church, Easton. To celebrate National Recovery Month, join Recovery for Shore and a host of community organizations involved in prevention, treatment and advocacy for those affected by substance use disorders, addiction and mental illness at this free community event. Begins with “Alive at Five” church service, including testimony by Bruce Strazza, followed by picnic dinner, rain or shine. Open to all. Contact: 410-822-2677
Safe Sitter
Safe Sitter® Class Chestertown – Saturday, 9/24, 9am-4:30pm, UM SMC at Chestertown Education Center. Pediatric nurses teach youth ages 11-13 the basics of babysitting, including first aid and more. Free Prostate Cancer Forum and Screenings  – Monday, 9/12, 5:30pm , Mt. Olive AME Church, Worton, MD. Educational forum including basic prostate information and discussion, questions/answers and sharing from prostate cancer survivors. Free Prostate Cancer Forum and dinner sponsored by Mt. Olive AME, MOTA and the Kent County Health Department, and partially funded by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Cigarette Restitution Funds. Free prostate cancer screenings provided by University of Maryland Shore Regional Health and Christopher Parry, DO, of UM Community Medical Group – Urology. Registration is required.
