UM Shore Medical Center at Easton ED Nurse, Deborah Timms, Celebrated as Everyday Hero

Team-StrengthAn emergency department nurse is the latest team member to be honored as an Everyday Hero by University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Deborah Timms, RN, clinical coordinator in the Emergency Department at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, was recognized as an Everyday Hero by Wayne L. Gardner, Sr. for the outstanding care his wife, Shirley Kay Gardner, received when she was a patient this past winter. Gardner was impressed by the quality of care Timms provided to his wife. He credits Timms for her ability to remain calm, professional and focused on an especially busy day in the Emergency Department.
“The ED was full with patients the day we came in and I will never forget how Timms took care of my wife as if she were the only patient there,” Gardner recalls. “I noticed that she treated all of the patients the same way—with patience and  kindness — and she made sure everyone was comfortable. She is a fantastic role model for a nurse in an emergency department setting.”
Timms has worked at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton for 38 years – 37 in the hospital’s Emergency Department.
The Everyday Hero program provides patients, visitors and staff members with the opportunity to recognize and thank any UM Shore Regional Health team members who made a positive difference in a hospital visit or stay, by making a financial contribution of any size to the appropriate foundation.
