UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester Staff Recognized for Exceptional Care

Nurses, patient care techs, social workers, EVS techs and security officers at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester were among those attending a reception in the hospital Solarium on Thursday, February 23, honoring their “Above & Beyond” care for a patient admitted to the 2 East unit last fall and discharged in late January after a four-and-a-half month stay.
Also on site for the occasion was Ken Kozel, UM SRH president and CEO; Isis Ferreira, MD; Ruth Ann Jones, chief nursing officer and senior vice president, Patient Care Services; Diane Walbridge, director, Acute Care and Emergency Services for UM Shore Medical Centers at Dorchester and Easton and UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown; and Brian Leutner, executive director, UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, UM Shore Regional Health Oncology Services and the Diagnostic and Imaging Center. Kozel, Jones, Walbridge and Leutner all complimented and shared their gratitude for the staff’s outstanding teamwork and creative collaboration in the patient’s care as well as their commitment to her best interests in spite of many challenges posed by her case. Saeed Salehinia, MD, was not able to attend but also received credit for identifying and remedying contributing factors to her condition and helping to facilitate an appropriate discharge plan.
