Thank You Message from Ken Kozel

Team-StrengthDear UM Shore Regional Health Team Members,
There have been many occasions during my tenure with UM Shore Regional Health when I have been impressed by — and of course, proud of – your dedication to our patients, their families and the communities we serve. This past weekend, however, I was nothing short of amazed by the seamless coordination and continuity of care as hundreds of you stepped up to go above and beyond your normal duties to ensure that we could handle whatever winter storm Jonas brought to our five-county region.
At every site I visited last Sunday, I observed absolute professionalism and teamwork as you worked together and with a host of independent contractors, county agencies and emergency services (even the National Guard!) to assist both staff and patients with transportation needs and to keep “all systems go” in our hospitals and emergency departments. Maintenance, Environmental Services, Public Safety and Food Services team members deserve special thanks for everything they did to make sure that our physicians, allied health care providers, nurses and other direct care staff were able to do their jobs well despite very long shifts while the storm was in progress.
I am so proud and gratified to lead such a highly capable and committed team. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make sure that UM Shore Regional Health remained committed to its mission of Creating Healthier Communities Together, even under extreme and challenging weather conditions.
In closing, I have a small request — if you took any photos during the storm of our facilities or your team members “in action” during storm, could you please forward them to Trena Williamson, trena.williamson@umm.edu?
Sincerely,
Ken Kozel
