Talbot County "Safe Stations" Seek Volunteer Support

Interested in GIVING Back??? Here is your chance….

Great news! Talbot County is establishing “Safe Stations” in Easton and St. Michaels, where those who are suffering from addiction and have nowhere to turn can go for help.
How you can help: Recovery for Shore is seeking individuals in recovery with solid, stable sobriety (minimum of one year abstinence from alcohol and/or drugs) who are willing to lend a hand as needed to those suffering with addiction.
What it involves: As a Recovery volunteer, you will sit with those who show up at a Station and offer encouragement and emotional support. You will provide support for the individual in distress by sharing your experience, strength and hope while professional agencies attempt to arrange proper placement for treatment.
How you can be prepared: Training – and guidelines for the “Do’s and Don’ts” in providing support — will be offered for those with little addictions experience. This type of volunteer work is NOT a conflict to the traditions of support groups as it is not allied in any way.
