Recovery for Shore Plans "Rally for Recovery" in Easton on June 3

Recovery for Shore (RFS), in partnership with Christ Church Easton, Mariah’s Mission Fund of the Mid Shore Community Foundation and other community partners, will sponsor a Rally for Recovery in downtown Easton on June 3, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The event is open to persons in recovery as well as community advocates; individuals, families and friends whose lives have been touched by addiction and mental health issues; and other interested parties.

According to Sharon Dundon, coordinator for RFS, the event will begin at Christ Church in Easton with a group walk to the Talbot County Courthouse on Washington Street, where the block between Dover and Goldsborough Streets will be closed at 4 p.m. for a brief rally, including guest speakers. Those in attendance will then return to Christ Church by 5 p.m. for the Alive at Five Service celebrating recovery, followed by fellowship on the Church lawn.  There also be a prize for the most creative rally sign.
“RFS members are grateful once again to Christ Church for helping us host a major event that brings together people from our community to support and celebrate recovery,” says Dundon. “We also appreciate the  cooperation we have received from the Town of Easton and the Town Police in coming up with an alternative plan to an actual walk through town, which is what we did last year.”
Recovery for Shore’s Walk of Hope, held in downtown Easton in April 2016, attracted more than 200 people; likewise, the organization’s Recovery Happens! Celebration, held at Christ Church Easton last September, netted an overflow crowd. “People recognize the need for greater awareness of recovery and greater support for recovery resources,” explains Valerie Albee, founder, Mariah’s Mission Fund. “These occasions are very meaningful to those who have lost loved ones to mental illness and addiction as well to those in recovery or finding their way there, and we welcome one and all.”
