Payroll Update

Team-Strength
GOING GREEN!
Beginning with the first pay in June (payday June 3, 2016), Shore Regional Health will be joining UMMS in the “Go Green” initiative by phasing out the delivery of paper pay stubs in favor of electronic delivery or “paperless pay.”  What this means for you is that all pay details will be available electronically on HR Connections.

  • What’s changing? With electronic delivery, you will get an e-mail alerting you to the direct deposit of your paycheck instead of receiving a paper pay stub.  This electronic notification can be sent to any e-mail address you choose, and your pay stub will be available to you for viewing by mid-morning the day before payday.  When you are notified, you simply click on the link, and you will be taken to HR Connections and using a secure login, you will be able to view all the information that would appear on your paper pay stub.
  • Anywhere, anytime: This electronic process works on both work and home computers and on a variety of mobile devices.  Once you access your pay stub electronically, you can print it should you wish to have a paper copy.
  •  Reminders for You: To give you plenty of time to prepare for this change, we will do some convenient reminders to you.  Beginning in May, look for large, bold ‘stickers’ on your  paper pay stub to remind you that electronic delivery will begin with the June 3rd paycheck.

MORE PAYROLL NEWS YOU CAN USE
UMMS payroll is in the process of streamlining banking operations by consolidating all payroll payments through M&T Bank, effective with the April 22 payroll.  This will have NO effect on your direct deposit–that process is not changing.
Live checks: If you receive a live check  your paycheck will show M&T bank as the issuing bank. If you receive a live check and have an existing bank or credit union account, you should have no difficulty cashing your check with your current bank or credit union. (All of our local banks and credit unions accept M&T checks.)
Paycard option offered: A convenient alternative to Direct Deposit is to elect to receive your pay on an UMMS PayCard.  This card is a VISA debit card issued by Wells Fargo Bank that is credited with the amount of your paycheck each pay period. Using the UMMS PayCard, you can withdraw cash at any Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and use it like a credit or debit card at Point-Of-Sale (POS) locations such as grocery stores, drug stores, or gas stations–anywhere VISA is accepted.
