Brian Leutner, MBA, RT (R) (T) has been named executive director, University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester and UM Shore Regional Health Oncology Services, Ken Kozel, president and CEO of UM Shore Regional Health, has announced.
Leutner has served UM Shore Regional Health in various capacities since 2000, beginning his career as a radiation therapist and acted as a clinical manager and then director of Radiation Oncology Services before assuming the role of director of Oncology Services for the entire organization in 2006.  In this role, he was – and will continue to be – responsible for the operation of the Cancer Center, which includes, among other services, radiation oncology at the Requard Radiation Oncology Center and outpatient chemotherapy at the Lenny Satchell Chemotherapy Suite. Leutner was instrumental in the planning and execution of the recent renovation project at Shore Regional Health’s Diagnostic and Imaging Center in Easton, including the expansion of the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center, which he will continue to oversee.
In his new role, Leutner will serve as a member of the UM SRH senior leadership team and will oversee the day-to-day operations at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, acting as primary liaison and collaborator to ensure its optimal participation in local, regional and system health care services, programs and activities. Additionally, he will be responsible for operations of the Diagnostic and Imaging Center.
Prior to joining UM Shore Regional Health, Leutner spent five years in the US Army as a nuclear, biological and chemical operations specialist. He earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury and a certification in radiation therapy from Sentara Medical Center in Norfolk, Virginia. Leutner later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Old Dominion University in Norfolk and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Wilmington University in New Castle, Delaware.
A Hebron resident, Leutner is a delegate member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers, member of the American College of Health Care Executives, member of the Association of Cancer Executives and member of the American Society of Radiological Technologists. He is currently the chairman of the Talbot County Cancer Coalition and a past graduate (2009) of Shore Leadership.
