Free Seminar on Wills and Understanding the Probate Process Set for June 18 & 19

University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation will host an informative seminar, “Workshop on Wills and Understanding the Probate Process” on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Queen Anne’s County Library, 121 S Commerce St, in Centreville and Tuesday, June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nick Rajacich Education Center, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, 219 S Washington St, in Easton.

Conducted by well-known local attorneys Patrick J. Fitzgerald, Esq. of Charles T. Capute LLC., and JoRhea Nagel Wright, Esq., of Armistead, Lee, Rust & Wright, P.A., they will discuss several topics, including:

  • Why should I have a will? What happens if I die without a will?
  • Will estate taxes take a major bite out of what I want to leave my family?
  • Do I still need a will if my assets are held jointly with my spouse?
  • How do I coordinate my will and my bene­ficiary designations with my overall estate plan?
  • What is the purpose of the Register of Wills? What are the costs?
Patrick J. Fitzgerald, Esq.

Fitzgerald is a junior partner at the Easton law firm of Charles T. Capute LLC, representing individuals and families in the areas of trust and estate planning, trust and estate administration, and related taxation.  He received his undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and his law degree, Master of Laws in Taxation, and Certificate in Estate Planning from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Fitzgerald currently serves on the Planned Gifts Committee of UM Memorial Hospital Foundation.

JoRhea Nagel Wright, Esq.

Wright is a partner with the firm of Armistead, Lee, Rust & Wright, P.A. She has experience in advising individuals in the areas of estate, gift and income tax planning and compliance. Wright’s estate, gift and income tax background enables her to advise her clients in a holistic manner and tailor their estate planning needs to their individual situation. She serves on the Planned Gifts Committee of UM Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Major Gifts Committee for Habitat for Humanity Choptank and is a member of the Talbot County Advisory Board for Mid-Shore Community Foundation of Easton.
