Diabetes Education Class to be Offered in Dorchester

Wynne Aroom, RN, CDE, will teach “Diabetes and You.” at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, each month beginning in March.

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health will offer a three-session class, Diabetes and You, each month at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester.
Taught by diabetes nurse educator Wynne Aroom, the class is free and open to the public, and provides medical information and strategies enabling patients to manage their diabetes for optimal wellness.
The first class series is set for Tuesday evenings, March 6, 13 and 20; the second will be April 3, 10, and 17. Both series will meet in the Board Room on the main floor of the hospital, 6 to 8 p.m.  Plans are for the class to be offered on a monthly basis going forward.
“Diabetes is very prevalent in our Shore communities, but many people who are newly diagnosed don’t realize there is much they can do to manage the disease in a way that avoids complications and helps them maintain their best health,” says Aroom. “This class provides important information that patients need to understand how diabetes can affect their health and simple strategies to monitor and manage their symptoms.”
