Comprehensive Rehab Services Announces 9th Annual Rehab Recognition Award Winners


Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services team members enjoyed their annual picnic and awards presentation at Idlewild Park in Easton on September 19, 2017. Congratulations to this year’s Rehab award winners! They are:

  • The Energizer Bunny Award:  (AKA The E-3 Award – Eager, Enthusiastic, Energizer) Presented to the staff member who exhibits a consistent positive, enthusiastic attitude that energizes those around them: Winner: Sherri Swann
  • The Extra Mile Service Award:  Presented to the staff member who most consistently exceeds the expectations of patients, their families, our co-workers, and anyone we serve. Winner: Julie Price, PT
  • The Extra Mile Service Award for Nursing:  Presented to a member of the nursing staff who most consistently exceeds the expectations of patients, their families, our co-workers, and anyone we serve. Winner: Shawne Davis, RN
  • The Rookie of the Year:  Presented to the newest staff member who has made the greatest positive impact on the department. (This staff member must have completed at least 90 days of employment, but not more than 13 months by the conclusion of August 2017.) Winner: Deanna McMullen, PT
  •  The Rock-Solid Reliability Award:  Presented to the veteran UM SRH Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services staff member (minimum five years) who has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to the department, co-workers, patients and their families through his or her performance, attendance and positive attitude. Winner: Carla Smith, PT
  •  The Most Marvelous Mentor Award:  Presented to the staff member who demonstrates a consistent commitment to guide, teach, counsel, coach, and share knowledge with other staff members to foster professional development. Winner Stephanie Stokes, PT
  • The Weekend Warrior Award:  An objective award presented to the therapy staff member who worked the greatest number of HOURS on weekends and holidays from 9/10/2016 to Labor Day Weekend 2017. Winner: Mary Hynes, OTR
  • The Nursing Warrior Award: Presented to the Requard Nursing staff member who worked the greatest number of extra shifts from 9/10/2016 to Labor Day Weekend 2017. Winner: Jamie Merritt

REHAB SERVICES UPDATES
According to Frank Rath, manager, Outpatient Rehab, in the past year, the team of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services evaluated over 11,000 patients at Shore Medical Center at Easton and Dorchester, and a combined total of over 3,000 patients at the outpatient centers in Cambridge, Denton, Easton and Queenstown, and also The Orthopedic Center.
Recent highlights in Comprehensive Rehab include:

  • The launch of two new outpatient Speech Therapy programs. COPE (Cognition, Organization, Processing, Executing) is a mental fitness program for patients/caregivers impacted by the gradual cognitive communication changes associated with mild to moderate dementia. The “Chemo-Brain” (Chemotherapy Induced Cognitive Impairment) Program is designed to address the needs of cancer survivors dealing with mild to moderate deficits in attention, concentration, language skills, multitasking and organization following treatment with chemotherapeutic agents.
  • All  outpatient rehab centers are also now offering physical therapy treatment for individuals dealing with TMJ (Temperomandibular Joint) Disorders.
