Centreville Public Works Project Includes Traffic Pattern Changes

Beginning Sunday, February 18, the town of Centreville will begin to execute a plan for major updates to the water and sewer systems on both Liberty Street and Commerce Street. This work is being done in advance of a state plan to repave each of the roads.
New traffic patterns will include closing Liberty Street to through traffic and two-way traffic beginning on Commerce Street. UM Shore Regional Health team members who travel through Centreville should be aware of bagged road signs, new stop signs added at certain intersections, and road markings for new temporary striped lanes.
According to Kip Matthews, Centreville public works director, the project is expected take 18 months for completion.  It will unfold in four phases:

  • Phases one and two will involve replacement of water and sewer infrastructure under Liberty Street from the Gravel Run bridge to the Millstream Park bridge.
  • Phases three and four will involve replacement of water and sewer infrastructure under Commerce Street from the same two points. The entire plan is expected to last 18 months.
