Access-to-Careshutterstock_239774281 [Converted]A significant renovation project, totaling approximately $6.5 million, is slated to begin at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health’s Diagnostic and Imaging Center, located at 10 Martin Court in Easton. The 14 month project, commencing on February 2, will be completed in three phases and will encompass most of the Center, including all laboratory and imaging spaces.

The project, which is anticipated to be completed by April 2016, will also incorporate the expansion of Shore Regional Health’s Comprehensive Breast Center. Once completed, the Comprehensive Breast Center, under the leadership of Roberta J. Lilly, MD, MPH, FACS, will provide a variety of breast health services at the Diagnostic and Imaging Center, including consultation and diagnostic procedures.

During renovation, the Diagnostic and Imaging Center will continue its normal hours of operation Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon for lab work, routine x-ray and digital screening mammography. Services at the Center will continue to include digital mammography, bone density, ultrasound, CT scanning, MRI, X-ray, fluoroscopy, PET scanning, ECG and laboratory services.

Patient parking and the main entrance to the Diagnostic and Imaging Center will not be altered during the first two phases of the project. However, when the third phase commences in October 2015, the entrance to the building will be moved due to construction. Patients and visitors to the Center can expect to see signage directing them to any change and as always, volunteers from the Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital at Easton will be on hand to direct patients to their desired testing area.

“The Diagnostic and Imaging Center is utilized by more than 200 patients daily,” comments Robert A. Frank, Senior Vice President of Operations for UM Shore Regional Health. “This renovation project will enable us to provide a more efficient, updated space for our patients throughout the region, who frequent the Center for their laboratory and imaging needs.”

“Our expert team at the Comprehensive Breast Center, which includes Dr. Lilly, our seasoned radiologists and the Center’s staff, are thrilled about the opportunity to provide expanded breast health services, in a centralized location, to the women of our region,” remarks Brian Leutner, Director of Oncology Services for UM Shore Regional Health. “The new location will be adjacent to Shore Regional Health’s Cancer Center, which will enable us to provide our patients in need of cancer treatments with a more convenient, comprehensive treatment approach.”

Ken Kozel, President and CEO of Shore Regional Health comments, “Our organization is focusing on keeping the members of our community healthy through enhanced outpatient services such as preventive care, health education, access to physicians and a variety of other programs and medical specialties.”

Kozel continues, “To achieve improved health and wellness in our communities, our goal at Shore Regional Health is to provide quality, accessible health care services throughout our five-county region. We are looking forward to this opportunity to provide convenient diagnostic and imaging services and expanded breast health services to the patients we serve.”
