Above & Beyond: Introducing “Team Members of the Month” Recognition and Rewards Program

Patient Experience and Human Resources are pleased to announce the inauguration of a new, HEART Recognition and Rewards awards program that each month, celebrates two team members as Team Members of the Month.

Winners are selected each month from the Manager to Team Member wall of the Recognition and Rewards site (http://umshr.isrewards.com) based on comments submitted by managers and leaders that reflect “Above and Beyond” behaviors as well as commitment to one of the UM SRH Values: RESPECT, INTEGRITY, TEAMWORK,

Those honored as Team Member of the Month will receive points in their accounts as well as recognition in Compass and on social media.

October 2017 Team Members of the Month

  • Jennifer Wade, Case Management, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, SERVICE:  for going above and beyond for the young person who needed assistance with addictions, showing genuine concern and recognition that it was a critical moment for his hopes of recovery, and exemplifying advocacy for the patient.
  • Joyce Coleman, Laboratory Services, UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, SERVICE: for stopping to assist a patient who seemed lost and anxious, escorting her to the third floor where she was expected for an appointment in surgery and finding staff to help her.”

November 2017 Team Members of the Month

  • Jason Mcham, Nursing, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, EXCELLENCE: for his exceptional “it is my job” attitude, going back and forth to get a bucket and supplies that he used to clean IV poles – and serving as a great role model.
  • Sylvester Williams, Environmental Services, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, SERVICE: for making sure that patient care was not disrupted by staying past the end of his shift to help contain and clean up the area by the nurses’ station on 2 East that had been affected by a stream of hot water spraying out of the ceiling.

December 2017 Team Members of the Month:

  • Betty WatkinsRegistration, Diagnostic & Imaging Center, SERVICE: for being “delightful and caring” toward a patient who was so appreciative that she wrote a letter of thanks describing how Betty made a difference in the patient experience.
  • Sara Andrews, Clinical Support, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, EXCELLENCE: for “having such a big heart,” as reflected in her sitting with a patient while she passed so that she would not be alone.

January 2018 Team Members of the Month

  • Luanne Satchell, The Birthing Center, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, EXCELLENCE: for the amazing kindness, caring, compassion she shared with the parents of a 20 day-old infant in the Emergency Department who was being air-transported to Hopkins.
  • Joanne Dupree, Clinical Support, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, TEAMWORK: for coming in early in response to a large backlog of work and upon arrival, getting right to work with a smile on her face and the offer to get going with whatever would help the most.

February 2018 Team Members of the Month:

  • Kimberly Hughes, Access, UM Shore Regional Health, EXCELLENCE: for putting patients first by helping them and their loved ones get the assistance needed to pay for their health care services.
  • Stella Thomas, Admissions, UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, RESPECT: for handling what she overheard as a difficult patient encounter in a positive professional manner, speaking quietly and firmly, giving a solution to a perceived issue and diffusing the problem.
