Above & Beyond

The following reports from patients and family members reaffirm our staff’s commitment
to putting our patients’ needs first. Please take a minute to say THANKS!

Sandy Prochaska, inpatient nurse manager, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, shared the following:
I received an extremely heartfelt note from Mr. Timothy’s family expressing their gratitude for the kind, compassionate treatment they received during the difficult time they had here in the CCU.  They were from out of town and felt we went above and beyond both in and out of the patient’s room by recommending where they stay, where to eat, helping with transportation, and taking the time to listen to their personal conversations.

They especially remembered Melanie I., Marjorie V., Stephanie T., Anne H., and Maddie S.– but then went on to say “Are you all extraordinary or is this just the way of sweet, small town Chestertown?”  They have a family member who is a pulmonologist in Los Angeles and said they have never seen a nursing or medical staff go so far out of their way to comfort a family like we did here.  Everyone should be very proud of themselves for making their experience here memorable. Great Job!”

We cannot say enough good about Dr. Mastandrea and the staff at the Cancer Center – the receptionist, the nurse – all are wonderful!  They have gotten us through this “adventure” and have been such a blessing to us!  Thank you Dr. John, Robin and Robin, Carol and everyone … you’re all fabulous!

In the Infusion Center, Paula, Mandy and Amanda are terrific!  My experience could not have been better. Professionals all – friendly and attentive, they make it much easier.

I spoke with lady over the phone before my visit to UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown, she was very understanding and helpful. When I arrived the ladies were all very professional. Before my MRI, I got my earring stuck but they were all understanding and patient with me.

My stay at inpatient behavioral health at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester was very helpful. The unit was comfortable and quiet. Without Dr. D and the rest of the staff, I don’t think I would have made it through a very heartbreaking time.

At Shore Rehab in Cambridge, Mandy & Sherry as always are the best at making everything easy for us. As always, Kelly is awesome at what she does – she connects with my wife and motivates her and my wife trusts her. Jenny is great at challenging my wife to push to do more at her therapy & constantly changing up the course. Anne’s approach has an almost “mother’s touch” in letting my wife choose her goals and then piloting the course to do it. Great team!
