The following reports from patients and family members reaffirm our staff’s commitment
to putting our patients’ needs first. Please take a minute to say THANKS!

Although it has been a year since our son’s passing, we think often the kindness given to him by Maddie Steffens. We are holding Maddie and the Palliative Care team close in our hearts and prayers.

When I arrived at the [UM SMC at Easton] Emergency Department, the lady who checked me in had a nice, low tone in her voice and asked me if I felt comfortable to respond. The doctor listened, gave me eye contact and responded to my questions.  He also encouraged me to think of more questions, saying, “When I come back if you can think of any questions please ask.” During my EKG, the tech was friendly, she talked about what was being done.

At Shore Rehab Center at Queenstown, I always had a good conversation with the receptionist while waiting. The therapists were always concerned about my comfort and it was nice chatting during therapy. They know their stuff! Paula was excellent to work with. Also, great team effort & communication as I worked with three different physical therapists due to scheduling.

During our visit with our baby to the UM SMC at Dorchester Emergency Department, Kim Kral was was our nurse. Couldn’t have had a better nurse. Care was great and fast! Thank you, Kim!!

In the Emergency Department at UM SMC at Chestertown, the doctor sat in a chair and wheeled himself so he was talking to me eye-to-eye while I was laying in the bed. I felt he honestly was interested in knowing what was wrong so he could help me. He took the time to sit with me to explain test results and to talk to me about next steps. He was very comforting.  The nurse who took my blood draw was wonderful, patient and kind and listened to me when I told her I pass out if I see blood!
