Above and Beyond

The following excerpts from patient letters reaffirm our staff’s commitment
to putting our patients’ needs first. Please take a minute to say THANKS!

“My mother fell and broke her hip when she was visiting me three weeks ago. She was taken to Easton to Shore Health Easton, where she received superb care. From the moment we entered the ED until she was dismissed we had nothing but kindness from every individual we encountered. And I cannot say enough good about Dr. Mason and his practice. One of his associates came to the ED within an hour after she arrived, and it was close to midnight. I could not believe that attentiveness still existed in health care. Mom had surgery the following day and was in the hospital three days so the credit should be spread to the staff on the Third Floor and the Care Coordinators. Just terrific. All of them.”

“My dad was admitted to Shore Medical at Easton via the emergency room and was then transferred to your ICU.  His nurse upon arrival was Christy Marciniak, who was called in that day to help. She was nothing short of sensational in the manner in which she cared for, treated and helped her patient, and how she managed the family. With my dad having had a number of hospitalizations over the past few months, we have met a large number of care providers and Christy is absolutely at the top of this list in terms of her style, manner, professionalism and care. Let this serve as a big thank you and to recognize your team of professionals,  with a special call out to Christy.”

“I was so positively impressed by my care and appreciative that I didn’t want to-miss an opportunity to acknowledge the staff’s excellent work, both from the time I entered the emergency room until I was discharged from 2 East [at UM SMC at Dorchester] six days later.

“Everyone worked as a team to provide high quality individualized care…The staff were neat and professionally dressed with ID badges easy to see and read…Call bells were answered promptly and pleasantly, requests were fulfilled and I was asked throughout the shifts if I needed anything or if there was something they could do for me ( even Environmental Service Staff assigned to my room asked if I needed anything). My room and bathroom were cleaned each day.
“The entire staff involved in my care demonstrated kindness, compassion, caring and respect for my individuality as the patient. Even the staff in the radiology department made some uncomfortable trips as ” comfortable” as possible.
“The nurses provided patient teaching “on the spot” including Dedra Abner who had to insert my NG tube (no easy task since I’ve had a nasal fracture) and Wanda Major who provided my discharge teaching. Both were very professional and very through in my care ( I had one or the other of them on the day shift throughout my stay). They are very dedicated to their patients, their role as nurses, and promoting teamwork on 2 East.
“If I ever have to be hospitalized again and it is something that can be managed at Dorchester General, 2 East is where I want to be.”

“I worked in hospitals for 20 years. These MDs and nurses [at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown] are excellent!”
